Question Lt1 Nitrous Progressive Controller users come in...

I was looking at running a edelbrock progressive controller on 300hp. Leave on 100hp and ramp up to 250-300hp over 5 seconds. My question is, how do you guys run your timing retard? Obviously at 100hp you will need 2 degrees if that, but alot more taken out at 250. I wouldnt think taking out 8-10 degrees on 100hp would be a good idea.

You can use a MSD Dig 6 or a Malory 685 to pull timing when the kit is activated. I have experience with the Dig 6 and a 7AL3. The Eldebrock is popular, the NMS 1000 is a very advanced option. Honestly I wouldn't pulse the solenoids for much longer than 3 seconds, unless you think you are going to blow the tires off.

I used the 685 to pull timing. Then used the nitrous outlet pro controller and ramped up on 100 shot out the gate and up to 250 within 2.3 seconds. Worked flawlessly and even on a stock 10 bolt and stock long block/cam only

I took out 9* of timing with br8 plugs gapped at 32. All on 93 pump gas BP only.

But did use 104 once and took out only 7* of timing with the the same plugs and a 250 shot. Boy did I like that one but after 6 runs it finally took out my stock 10 bolt with a 1.38 60ft.

Say I Leave on 100hp and my digital 6 is set to say 8 degrees retard and ramp it to 250hp over 3 seconds. Wont the initial 100hp with 8 degrees taken out cause it to stumble or backfire since theres way to much timing taken out for 100hp?

That is where something like a 7AL3 comes in, many guys with multiple kits will bank them into smaller kits. With the more expensive ignition boxes you can set multiple timimg retards. Making the use of a progressive for a traction control device instead of an overall nitrous controler.

I was ramping mine from 100hp to 100% in 1.4 seconds. Any faster and I had traction issues. car went from 1.3x 60ft to 1.45+ 60fts when I would drop below that number.

Wild watching video of the rear wheels still spinning with the front tires off the ground LOL!

I just ran a straight up 9 degree's that came on when I turned the system on in the 6Dig+

Lol thats bad ***. Thats what my main concern was. Leaving on 100hp and having that 9 degrees taken out. I thought it would cough or be a issue. But you guys and nitrous outlet both say it will not be a issue.

I have never run nitrous but seems to me 5 seconds to ramp up is a LONG time and the pass half over.

I also wonder about using some sort of rpm input to affect the retard rate where at lower rpm where the shot is small you pull less than at higher rpm???

IMO you should be all in by the 60' or close to it.

if your going 5 sec then you need to reevaluate

After I thought about it I agree. All in around the 60ft or close to it.

Next season I'm going to be running at least a 200 and it will be full on at .3 seconds, but I have 32in of meat to hook up.

I ran over 85 passes with my stock setup on a 200 shot out the gate with 9.5* taken out straight out the gate with 0 issues. It worked like a charm as well and I love it more than a pro controller!

If I was only running a 200 shot on top of 440rw I might have been able to hit it all out of the hole but it just was not working for me

I'm going to race it all summer in some local bracket classes. If I get some time at Tulsa I'll iron out the nitrous system, I want to see how fast/much I can hit on the line. By the end of the summer I should have a good start on my BBC, so by the shootout time I want to be sweeping up rods.
