Default LT1 Dying on the interstate?

I have a 94 Z28 with the following mods: cold air intake, gasket matched intake, shaved and ported heads, cc503 cam, tuned by pcmforless. She has 147k on the clock.

Yesterday on my way to class, I down shifted and gave it a little gas to get around a slow driver and for about a half second the car died, and immediately picked back up and carried on fine the rest of the trip.
Today I was leaving class and had been on the interstate about 10 minutes and the car died again, but did not pick back up. I coasted to the shoulder, tried to crank and got nothing. I popped the hood, looked around, saw nothing appearing loose. Tried cranking and she cranked right up and I went home with no more issues.
Anyone have ideas as to what could be causing this? I'd hate to end up stranded, especially when I have a presentation due tomorrow night.

Check fuel pressure first, then scan for codes second.

Sounds like a possible fuel pump issue. Have you replaced it before? It could be overheating.

It isnt throwing any codes. I suppose it could be the fuel pump, but in my experience there has always been lack of power and sputtering prior to the fuel pump dying. I could be wrong there, but that's just been my experience.

Could it possibly be the ignition module or optisppark causing this? I hate to start replacing parts to track down the issue. Like I said, it could be the fuel pump, but I would assume the fuel pump would not go out all at once.

Is it acting like you are shutting off the ignition? If it is then its the ignition switch.

Thats exactly what its doing. Is there a way to verify that is the culprit before I buy a new one?

When I tried to recrank it after coming to a stop, it turned over fine, but acted like it wasnt getting fire. Not sure if that helps, but I suppose any additional info is better.

Update: I was under the hood and found a yellow wire going to the MAF that has been broken, but electric taped together. I recall bumping that when I was undet the hood on the side of the road. The wire was twisted together but seems lose. Maybe it's just a bad connection?

If it was the ignition switch it would just kill all the power. It wouldn't even crank, radio would turn off, ect.

Juat went down the road, it cut off twice within 4 miles, everytime Its cut off has been around 2000 rpms or more. Almost like it's flooding out or something. The first time it did it tonight it cranked right up after a few seconds, but idled at 2k for a few seconds. The second time I sat for about 3 or 4 minutes before it cranked back up. I can hear the FP priming up when I turn the switch.

I have a used MSD coil on the car currently, so I dont know any details about it. Could the coil be breaking down?

Try changing out your fuel pump relay with another relay. They tend to cycle out and fail intermittently.

No luck with the relay. Any other ideas?

It definitely sounds like you're losing spark... I would guess that the culprit would be that MSD opti. check the pigtail connecters from the module to the opti, its possible one of them came loose. I've heard this is a commonly overlooked issue with those MSD systems. Other than that, do a spark test on all your wires. That's just what I would start with

93 TA M6, CC stage 3 clutch, freshly built trans, AC delete, CAI

The coil is the only thing msd on the car. Is there a way to check the opti itself?

I'd get out the multimeter and test each wire for spark. make sure every part of the ignition system is hooked up correctly. It's possible that the opti is crapping out, which isn't the biggest headache to fix.

There's a ton of forums here about opti replacement and troubleshooting as well as known issues with the MSD opti and coil.

for starters I'm gonna swap the coil since I have the old one, get the icm tested, and if that isnt it I suppose I'll swap the opti.
