Did you set up the correct COM port in Datamaster? The cable should have came with a CD that includes the USB drivers for the software that will emulate the USB port as COM3.

Also, the key needs to be in the ON position (assuming you know that already).

i downloaded the driver, yes the key was in the on positon, but im thinking i have a ground problem. do you know how many grounds there are by the icm/coil, i know there is a ground wire that goes to the frame right there but i only have one other wire going there but have seen a pic of the harness on shbox n theres 2 going to it

Grounds go to ground.

Seriously though, the two terminals bolt to the coil bracket stud.

Which one are you missing? There is a single black wire ring terminal and a double terminal with tan and white.

I don't have my wiring schematics with me but I think the 94s have a single connector there. Rob would be able to tell you...

Two rings from the engine harness. One ring has a black wire for the ICM ground. The other ring has two tan/white wires that are PCM grounds. The other ground is the braided strap that goes to the LH frame rail.

ok i checked all the grounds and everything is good, i also checked for for continuity to rule out a bad wire between the diagnostic port and the pcm. now am i possiby doing something wrong with the software.

what i did was download datamaster, made sure i did the one for 1994 lt1 fbody. and then i downloaded the drvier for the usb. now when i try to connect to the pcm it still says the the usb is working but it can not detect a pcm.
