I have a Spec 3 sitting in my basement waiting to go in. Also just finished putting in the S60 Sunday. 500 miles on the clutch for break-in also the S60 says to drive 50 mile intervals, let it cool for least a 1/2 hour for 500 miles then drain the fluid and refill. So basically no hard acceleration for 500 miles. Oh joy.

I call bullshit on the rearend. What is there to break in? They just say that so if it breaks they have a reason to blame you.

I put my S60 in and went and raced the next day... 2500 miles no problem yet.

RAM encourages you bolt it on and drive it like a scald *** ape. Same thing with my RAM when I had one in. Took it to the track just after being put in and was in the 1.5 60' range no problems.

I love my Competition Clutch, got the stage 3 (2600) and I've got about 1500 miles on it. Grabs great and very streetable. Affordable as well.

Be sure to not over clutch your car/power. The clutch being able to slip has more functions than just disengaging the driveline from the engine... much cheaper/easier to swap out a clutch than to repair/replace the trans. imo...

I believe the RAM uses a different material in their pads that does not require the seat time that SPEC recommends. Make sure some of those miles you are putting on the SPEC are in stop/go situations.

I drive through my main street a lot. 15mph and pedestrians, etc. I get a little smell when I get stuck in traffic which worries the hell out of me... or if I try to parallel park

Did you use a new or resurfaced flywheel when you put in the new clutch? Smelling your clutch means it's getting hot, somehow.

SS RRR:

I thought I read in another thread that you now have a Spec. Having had both Spec and Ram, which do you prefer?

I've got the Powergrip HD now and really like it, but I'm about due for another one. Any reason to switch?

They both hold well. I took the RAM off because it was dragging/disengaging right off the floor which caused me to loose a syncro. Instead of ******* with why it was dragging I decided to go with the same clutch I had before.

that would be the direction to go

have run single disc SPEC, CC, custom made, stock simgle disc clutches. Initially they were good but fail in a year or so.

for holding power you just can't beat twice the friction area of a twin disc.

It must be nice to know more than the clutch company that said that this clutch requires no break-in.

It's obviously brainless, but I didn't buy this car to have to baby it for 500 miles because some clutch company can't build a decent clutch.

I bought a junk autozone clutch for my stroker and that didnt last to long. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my engine and getting a new clutch .. Zoom makes a Kevlar clutch I was thinking about buying . Have you ever tried a zoom?

I've had one in my car for 6 or 7 thousand miles and it's doing fine. The one before that had about 20 thousand on it when a spring popped off. The friction material was still in good shape.
Car was bolt-ons only on the first AZ clutch and h/c/i on the current one. I haven't tried it with slicks, but it gets driven pretty hard. I know I'll have to upgrade but I have been quite happy with the way it's held up.
