Default Need advice for new clutch

Well I know there are many threads about clutches but I'm tired of reading and trying to go off of someone else's post so here we go...

Just finished tuning my 24x and made 360hp/365tq rwhp on mustang Dyno my tuner says add 18% according to dynojet numbers but lets not get into that I just want to be on that safe side and cover 530hp/530tq at flywheel

I want to grab hard but don't want to loose that weekend warrior on the streets for cruising. Someone has to know the best bang for the buck

SPEC stage III would be a good fit. I have had good luck with SPEC clutches. Their quality has gone up a bit over the years, and IMO are the best clutch you'll find for the prices.

I ran a stage 3 for years in my car. Just upgraded a couple years ago to a 3+. Strangely, the 3+ drives even closer to stock than the stage 3 did.

The SPEC stage III would be more than enough for your car though. Good driveability but still holds its performance.

Yea I was really leaning towards that but I want to be sure I'm not swapping out clutches in the next 3 months...cause I have heard of the springs breaking. Thanks for the advice

Yeah, I have heard much earlier models from SPEC having issues but literally that was like 8 years ago. They are top notch now.

If this is true then SPEC sounds like the best bang for the buck, will be buying one this week

Not taking anything away from SPEC, but I've also heard alot of good things about Competition Clutches recently and they have good prices. There is a thread on them here in the LT1 section I think.

Spec seems to be one of those clutches that gets alot of good and bad reviews. Although you need to consider that clutches to need proper break in and I'm sure a handful of the premature failures are due to ignorance.

Personally I ran a spec III in a build of mine and I loved it...no chatter and it grabbed nice and hard. Car had a 12.4 to 1 compression 355 with LE2 heads and a big nasty cam. It's capable of holding a good bit of power.

Competition Clutch all the way. Great price and a great product. I only have about 2500 miles on my Stage 2.5 but it grips hard but drives like stock. I've hot lapped it at the track probably 14 times last summer and it never faded. I actually have it out right now because I broke my T-56 and the clutch looks like new yet.

As everyone can see how the choice becomes a dilemma. There's a lot a risk vs benefit to consider but when it comes down to it it looks like specs out weighs its risk a lot of good reviews

Like I said before, back in the day, SPEC had known to have quality issues. This really is a thing of the past though. You won't find people running SPEC's today with the quality issues they had years ago. But yet, since it happened, even if it was years ago, people still associate the old bad quality with the name.

You'll be fine with the SPEC. There really is no risk.

For the LS1 there has been a lot of problems, but not very many for LT1.

Not all clutches need a break-in. I don't know how you people can stand breaking in a clutch for 500 miles.

Really? All you have to do is not get in to full throttle and its preferred to do more miles in town than on the highway. Other than keeping my foot out of it, I thought it was pretty brainless.

These are the reasons why these companies get bad reviews because people don't follow the instructions and when they break they claim they did and there you go...maybe you just got lucky..but it is tempting to go ahead and romp on it cause you don't want to wait 500 miles
