Want to delete cats and nix the downstream o2 reading

Wondering what your suggestions are for free obd2 software?

I think anything prior to 96 is OBDI..

however now im curious is there any free OBDII software out there to do what he is looking for? I want to delete my smog/EGR/ and cats

This actually isn't for an lt1 at all. My wife drives an 08 malibu and the cat is plugging up causing a low efficiency code. Unfortunately her plates are up by the end of the month and she needs to pass emissions.

The cat is a one piece manifold/cat and a replacement is 600$

So as an alternative I want to guy the cat and reprogram the value for the downstream o2

Any help would be great

What are my options as far as paid software? All I'm finding seems to be awfully expensive...

I've found a few Craigslist postings for handhelds (Matco, snap on) though do the handheld units provide any programmability? Or are they just a data logging tool?

That's right. I was just thinking the cat warranty is like 10 years or something like that. Emissions stuff has a mandated longer warranty.

Smart thing to do it go to the GM dealer and see if it's still under warantee.
Don't cobble up an '08 car like that.

Yeah I'd really like to avoid that, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Bought the car for a steal about a year ago from Craigslist. I'm not sure how the warranty works, I understood its only covered from the original owner, no? Could be wrong..

And there's actually a recall for 09+ cars for early cat failure.. Unfortunately it's 09+
