I love the LT1 because it seems the majority of the f-body cars I see are LS1 style. I get complements all the time on the sound of the car, especially with the cutout open. I like the more aggressive look of the Z28 vs. the "catfish" look. Sure it may be lacking in horsepower, but there's always someone faster. So I'm going to stick with what I like. I think my favorite 4th Gen would be a 30th Anniversary LT4 SS - doesn't get any better in my opinion.

there is something out that people are using on fresh polished alum rims that keep them conditioned, supposedly something new. I'll find out from my friend what it is.

well if I did sell my car, the money would go right into another LT1 Camaro... with a 396 LT4 on gas

Either way, I'm definitely staying in the game. I don't plan on leaving the LT1 scene anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm really psyched about getting a new setup built, I've just gotta get my Z off my hands now so I can get the $$$ I need to make it happen. Either that, or win the lottery.

not to knock the ls1 - but the lt1 seems to be a better street motor - it makes nearly as much torque 1600 rpm sooner than the ls1 - the only drawback is that it lacks in the horsepower dept compared to the ls1

Sorry but I totally disagree. The LS1 gets much better gas mileage and is much more reliable, considering the LT1's famous opti-spark failures and intake manifold oil leaks.

Plus column:

The iron block. LT1's sound better and that's mostly why.

Low end torque.

Affordability of LT1 powered cars now. (They're cheap!)

Minus Column:

Damn Optispark

Plugs and wires swap is harder than LS1.

Oil Leaks

Heads suck compared to the LS1 design.

Generally don't make as much power for equivalent level of mods compared to an LS1 (related to the cylinder head comment).

I would have to say the best is style of the LT1. I have heard girls walk up to an LS1 Camaro and say it looks "cute". They look at mine and and don't say anything. That is how I like it, I like having a mean looking that no body better ever call cute. Of coures their ar eother thing to like the sound of the engine and low end torque.

And oh yeah as you see, I got owned by the low end torque too.

I love my LT1. Mostly its the looks, sound, and general character of this car that I like. These cars and motors just have a raw, elemental attitude about them that is somewhat lacking in the LS1 cars. The fact that it will not be mistaken for anything else at night, with the signature headlight/foglight pattern. I have a 97, with the new interior and seats, etc. The seats pretty much suck, but the newer dash layout is a plus.
Mine is a pretty unique color as well, cayenne red metallic. 2529 Camaros produced in this color from '96 to '98.

How much would the new 97-02 interior cost to get? I like my dash though, but it would be kinda cool to have if I ever had that much money to waste

Billy Graham or something I think, anywho I'll get his address dealymafloppy and post it...whatever his name is he can get everything you need. I need a new dash insert up top, the one that cracks all the time...well it was cracked already then I installed the tach and it really disentegrated

I love my LT1 because its are so easy to work on.

Seriously though, like everyone else has said, the looks and the sounds are what keeps me coming back for more. The body lines on the LT1 style Camaro seem to be a little more streamline. You just gotta love the "snake eyes" look of the front headlights, especially with the fog lights on.
