Default Thoughts on monoblade TB?

I have a 355 build in the works, going with the LE trickflows, le cam, le intake, and 24x conversion and all the other goodies that go along with that. It will be a high compression motor. Is a mono blade TB worth it, I called LE up and asked if he could port the intake to be compatible with a mono blade tb. He said he could but said it could mess up the IAC unless i have it tuned accordingly. any thoughts? i dont want to put one one and it have crapping drivability.

Nope not for what you plan.

A monoblade flows like 1300cfm.

A 355 at 8000 rpm with a even a 100% VE only consumes 822cfm.

Awesome! thanks for the reply. I'll just go with a regular 58mm then.

Yea I would have to agree that the monoblade TB is overkill for your setup. Stick with the 58mm and you'll be happy...

Not one NA LT1 that has been to my place made enough power to max out a 58mm, very few actually needed a 58mm.

As said by Ed.

Even a twin 52 flows 750cfm.

A NA engine will never be 100% VE so say 85%.
At 8000rpm a 355 will need about 700cfm.

So a 52mm will work.

NA engines can reach and even exceed 100% VE.

Won't be for the whole RPM range, and not with street car parts, but it is definitely possible.

Doesn't change the fact that a 355 doesn't need even a 58mm, let alone a monoblade .

when the time comes i will most likely go with a 58 mm TB. It just seems like that would make the most sense if i spend the money on nice heads and get the intake worked

if only a 58mm TB on a 355 when would you suggest a monoblade?
I have always wondered if my Monoblade was too much for my motor, but figured at WOT it would want all it could get. with the fast ez efi I can fine tune the iac circuit.
Think I should find a 58MM and try it?

The problem people don't understand is velocity. If you have a smaller hole you have less volume but more velocity. Vice Versa.

By having to big a hole you lost the velocity which the engine creates a vacuum so by using velocity the maximum air is sucked in.

You want a balance between volume and velocity. Thats why large numbers on heads doesn't mean squat without good velocity.

No offense, but your heads are too big too. You don't really have enough cam or compression for those heads, or TB. If you did, it would not be real streetable.
You would need an 8000+ RPM engine to take advantage of those.

If interested, my SS 360" LT1 makes 600 hp with a stock TB, not even an air foil. Not legal where I race. Doesn't pull that much vacuum up high. Guys see the MAP climbing with the factory manifold and think they have a restriction. It's not really pulling vacuum, it's the MAP sensor location. It's the Brunelli effect.

Unlike boobies & peckers, bigger ain't always better.
