1996 LT1 Confused on Exhaust Choice
My dad had a 2001 SS LS1 Camaro with SLP Loudmouth I on a stock manifolds and cats. I have a 1996 Supercharged with SLP Shorties and Hi-Flow Cats.
I loved the sound of his car and want that. He said that with the shorties, LT1, and supercharger, the loudmouths will sound raspy.
We both love loud, strong, mean exhausts. Please help with any advice on an exhaust selection. Just trying to stay away from the rasp.
I appreciate any input... and remember I want it to wake the neighbors, don't care about drone but I don't want rasp.
Thanks,
-B.

A supercharger doesn't make a difference on exhaust note as far as I know. And any vehicle without catalytic converters and LoudMouth 1's will have a lot of rasp. It's hard to have best of both worlds though. When I put LM1s on my Cobra, I only cut the rear two cats off (Cobra's have 4 cats) and I liked the tone but it was too quiet for me so I cut the front cats off and now it's loud as hell but a lot of rasp comes with that.
Build a custom Y with a flowmaster merge, I've heard nothing but great things about them. Throw a small bullet cat in the mix and it should be ok. I personally like a bit of raspy bark to my exhaust.
I run LT's with magnaflows high flow merge. to a single 3" borla pro xs and a vibrant super quiet resonator. Zero rasp at any rpm. Nice and calm at idle but she really wakes up around 2500 rpm
