24x PCM Questions
Hey anyone on here done a 24x swap on there LT1 or are familiar with it? I just frantically cancelled my order for my 97 Camaro because I cant switch the VIN over from my car to my PCM. I wont be able to just swap PCMs for emissions because of the different harnesses. Does MVD look at the VIN when they plug into the car? How is everyone doing this, Im thinking the VINs would have to match.

No, they don't look at the VIN on the PCM. Besides, when your new PCM is programmed, it will have your VIN in it anyway. The tuner will put your VIN in it to identify the vehicle.
As long as your car passes smog, they can't say anything, even if you had a Falconer V-12 in it or an old flathead ford in it.

Many emissions states allow only newer engine swaps of similar emissions classification of vehicle and then the tailpipe test would have to match the swapped engine.

No sniffer test for my car, they just plug it into the obd2 port and if there is no codes and the readiness (o2 etc) checks out then you pass. Im more worried about them plugging in their scanner and saying hey this vin on your computer doesnt match the cars. thats even if they can see the vin or not. it is a dillema when im going to pay 2k for something that im scared mvd wont like.
