Lt1 ignition issue
Lt1 ignition issue So my car is a '97 z28. My problem is that I have a constant beeping every time the drivers door is open. It's like the car thinks they key is still in it, even when its not. I also can't lock the doors unless I do it manually. If I push the switch to lock, the beeping speeds up for a second but doesn't lock. I can, however, unlock the doors by pushing the switch. I think it's the ignition because if I try to move the part on the side of the steering column (where the key goes in), the beeping will turn off if it got moved the right way. Can anyone help with pinpointing the exact problem? Thanks
my guess would be the ignition cylinder isn't hitting the contac it needs to disengage the current that lets the beeping through. Your most likley on to something though best bet is to take it apart and take a look
