Default Hardened pushrods.

Don't forget to use hardened p-rods with guide plates. Or use chromemoly p-rods. The guide plates will chew up stock p-rods.

while buying good aftermarket pushrods is certainly advisable it can also be noted that the stockers up through I believe 95 ARE HARDENED and will survive fine with guideplates.

Where did u hear that? The self alinging rocker arms did away with the hardened p-rods. Lingenfelter said '86 was the year they changed and to check u need to drag a file gently across the p-rod and check for easily removed metal.

The file test has been done. Repeatedly. Through 95 they are hardened.

To expand on what you said.
Stud girdles are generally used in application that turn higher RPMs, they aren't as good as a real shaft setup. If rules or budget limit you to stud mounted valvetrain then it's a solution, it won't prevent catastrophic failure, but it will prolong it.
