Better brakes for 95 Z28 vert
Want to improve stopping power for rides on the tail. Just want to replace stock rotors, pads, calipers and lines. Realize total redo with larger rotors would give best performance but cant afford parts and labor custom job would cost. Need recommendations on stock replacement upgrades. Have heard conflicting recommendations slotted versus just solid heavier rotors. Experienced tail riders report heat build-up biggest problem. Any thoughts on products?

Rides on the tail? Tail of the Dragon?
Anyway:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/up...FUJa4Aod7zQAgg
Then go to the Corvette Forum and see who is selling their stock C5 brakes. Best bang for the buck.

Hopefully one day I'll be able to ride there. I'm more interested in planting a lawn chair with a cooler of beer and watching the morons make fools of themselves.
Only downer is having to get an alignment afterwards.

Like was said, swapping to ls1 bigger brakes is cheap and worth it. Any 98-02 f body including v6 cars have them, just scour a junkyard for the spindle and calipers, put on some good blanks and hawk pads, and your done for under $500. Everything bolts right in, if you've ever changed brake pads before you can do that swap yourself.

Go with LS1 brakes. They are cheap and easy to rebuild. I am putting them on my 92 Z along with a 4th gen rear....all from a 2000 Camaro. I got the complete rear and front brake setup for 250. Best bang for your buck.

Do that from my front porch overlooking the tail. Most riders are sane and the car clubs seem to have a great safe time. Its the "NINJA freaks" with their 2 wheel rockets, death wish and apparant blindness for a doubble yellow line that scare me (hence my need for better brakes). Recall last summer seeing a freak go by at least 100 mph plus with a trooper in pursuit with no chance of catching up. If he ever does he will have to peel the freaks face of one of our smoky mountian oaks, Hope the freak still had a smile on his face!

the 98-02 ls1 brakes are the best upgrade. Can be had for around $150+/-. Check ebay, local junk yards, There are even f-body only junk yards on facebook as well. Look up camaro & firebird motorsports.

Thaks all for advice, (keep in mind must pay for all work) My bottom line is:
1. upgrade existing brake system with high quality parts, cost under $400
2. install used 98-02 f body brakes with high qualty parts, cost $1000-1500?
3. install used C5 system with new high quality parts, cost $1500-2000?
Here is the 64 dollar question, since I will not be racing but need a real bump in stopping power which option is the best bang for my buck, the best value overall.

One could possibly ask if he'd be willing to break up the set for the front only...
Another set:

Only catch is you have to have 17" wheels and IIRC there are certain aftermarket wheels that will not work with C5 calipers.
It's called target fixation.
