question about steam ports

question about steam ports

not sure if they are actually steam port or whatever but on each head there is a coolant passage that exits at the ends. i know the back ones are for the line that goes up to the rad but where do the front ones go? are they to be capped and i forgot i took them out? or does some of the accessories bolt through there and you put pookie on it so it doesnt leak?

im putting my 383 le2 setup together finally after it has been sitting for 5 plus years and my memory is alittle foggy

The heads are symmetrical so the ports are the same as the rear holes. They need to be plugged.

This. make sure to plug the temp sender on one of them too.

They are 1/4" straight threads (similar to 1/4" NPT but the threads are not tapered). If you want to use a standard 1/4" pipe plug you'll need to use a 1/4" NPT thread tap.
