Default aftermarket Roller Rockers

Can you run 1.6rr with stock valve springs while staying limited to 6000rpm?

I've read the stock springs are not the best so, assuming I need to change them as well, whats the best way to keep the valve from falling into the cylinder?

I've done spring/cam swap on my old dohc civic and I used compressed air to applied through the spark plug hole to keep the valves up while I changed all the spring but I am thinking thats not going to work with the LT1 given how hard accessing the plugs is.

can you bring the piston to TDC for each cylinder as you go to keep the valves from dropping out?

Yes, do one cylinder at a time, get each to TDC and you can let the valves fall and rest on the piston.

You can run stock springs with 1.6's no problem as long as you're not running a big cam. Just remember that the stock LT1 springs pretty much suck and will float the faster and further they're pushed, which doesn't take much at all, even under 6000rpms. This means you won't see much of a gain especially at higher rpms. So if you're going in to change the rocker arms, its definitely worth your time to upgrade springs, too.

Do not run stock springs with anything but stock vavletrain. The amount of lift that will bind them is pathetic.

Ok yah ill do the springs and rockers when I upgrade them. I'd rather be safe than sorry and the TDC method is really easy. How can you make sure the piston is at the top of the stroke before you remove the valve spring?

thanks those look perfect! it says they are sutible for fairly high cam's if I wanted to do a cam down the road wouldent they handle it?

do your self a favor and use the air tool as well as the tdc method.....holding the valve up that extra .5" or so really makes it easier to install them all

I personally would not run cheap springs. For a stock cam they will last, but to be on the safer side I would run some beehives incase he wants to cam it later on. As far as Alex Parts some people have luck with them and others dont. For a stock cam they should be fine.
