measuring for pushrod length
can i pull apart an lt1 lifter and make it solid to measure? im replacing the lt1's with the ls7's but i think the plunger may be different? is it different enough to throw off my pushrod length? didnt want to take apart my new lifter as ive never disassembled one
thanks
Then, with the plunger completely depressed i check the roller tip pattern and find a pushrod length.
After finding a length i subtract all but .050" of the plunger travel from the pushrod length to find the final length I need for the engine.
The .050" I leave in the measurement affords me the proper lifter preload. Viola! No need to build a solid lifter or anything.

It's always good to have more tools at your disposal. These springs come in very handy for checking piston-to-valve clearance after a rebuild, or a head/cam swap.
It's well worth the effort.
