9 second stock long block build thread!!! pics and vids inside!
alrighty, a few guys around here were asking about a build thread, so i felt like it deserves to be done.
background on the car:
1997 30th ann z28 6 speed. got it with 5200 original miles, 2nd owner.
this car has seen every setup out there, blower, nitrous, all motor, turbo, blower/nitrous, stoker/blower/nitrous, stroker/turbo/nitrous, now stock motor and turbo.
car IS and always will be a street car, full interior, full stereo, all working interior. no a/c no heat (bitch now or forever hold your peace)
i started this build with the intention of just being a high 10 second 6 speed street car, drive it to the track strap the slicks on go high tens a few runs and drive home.
i have a stroker motor with all the goodies ready for it but at the time i had no money to finish that motor and the season was fast approaching. so i decided ill go get me a stock motor and build a wicked turbo system around it and see how far i can push it (500 to 600hp was in my head)

Interesting placement with the nose piece fab work, looks good though. Get in a front end accident driving on the street and it will be toast though.
What's the smaller pipe coming out next to the exhaust pipe for?

I was hoping the inter poker was big enough to soak up a crash hahaha. I'm pretty good about driving it, I stay 3 to 5 cars behind people in town I'm constantly looking when crossing intersections. So far so good, usually ill blast the tires off down the highways or street and people seem to back off. Had some kid in a civic tail gate me for about a mile then I gave her the beans and needless to say I never saw him again. Car drives like stock, and it's really quiet cruising so I love to take it out on nice days. C16 fuel is a tad over priced so I try to limit my street driving, once I switch to e85 ill be driving it much more.

Looks like you detonated the stock bottom end. Im assuming you replaced the bottom end with stock components on this build.. I remember seeing a thread with the same turbo setup but with forged internals?!

correct i have a stroker getting ready for this but like i said money was tight and the season was fast approaching. wanted to get out there asap!
yes the motor that is in it now is still stock internals, but it was completely torn down and reassembled, rings gapped, bearings replaced with extra clearances, new oil pump.

piston to wall was around .0021 IIRC have to look at the sheet.
all stock parts were reused besides bearings and oil pump.

Hows the car doing now? That setup is the best Ive seen so far on a LT1. You dont know how impressed I am to see a stock long block perform the way this car has? On that 9 sec pass, was the car on 20lbs of boost? Either way very nice and very impressive!!!!
