car wont crank

car wont crank when i was getting ready to head home from school today, car wouldnt crank. security light on the dash was lit. accessory power was fine. took the key out and sat there for a minute, security light flashed off, stuck the key back in and she fired right up. anybody know why this would happen? this is the third time in the last three weeks, second time in 2 days. never happened before that.

Your Theft Deterrent Modual is going bad or the contacts in the ignition switch are not making contact with the pelet on the key. Therefor the TDM cannot read the resitance. There is a 3 minute wait if the box does not agree with the key and then resets. Take some brake clean and spray it in your key slot. Hopefully that will clean your contacts, if they are not worn. Also do your key.. The TDM also controls the fuel injection system thru the main computer. That is how it makes your car secure. By shutting off the fuel pump if it gets wrong info from the key, or no key if someone trys to jump the ignition. Hope that helps.
