Default Prp ewp?

Does anyone know anything about PRP electric water pumps? They claim 50 gpm and appear to be the best priced pumps out there for the LT1. I'm debating whether to stick with the stock pump or go electric on my street/strip 383 build.

I never used the PRP ones just Meziere and CSR but whatever your poison... don't buy in to the GPM advertising. It has been discussed to the point of nausea that the mechanical will eventually outflow the electric as RPMs increase. I only did it to help reduce the cool down times in the staging lanes and since I am N/A I have no clue how much more you would benefit since your motor is boosted.

If there is nothing wrong with the mechanical pump and you do not want to run a double roller chain then you are probably better served sticking with it. The reliability on an electric pump is also highly debatable where some observe failure within weeks and others lasted years regardless of brand (I have had both situations happen to me).

i was planning to stick with the mechanical since it's relatively low mileage, but when I inspected the drive gear/shaft from my donor engine, it is quite worn where the seal contacts. So I've been debating whether to locate a new/newer one or go ewp. I already found someone with a low mileage shaft (25k on it) for a reasonable price but thought it might be a good opportunity to go ewp instead. My coolant temps go higher than I like in this 90 deg weather at idle, so I thought the ewp might help. Plus the benefit of running the fans/pump between runs at the track.

Cant u buy new shaft? I dont think that PRP ewp will fit a GEN II LT1 - u better contact them first. I'm under the impression that the electric pumps don't last as long as the mechanical. But thats a cool (NPI) idea running your pump and fans with engine off for cooldown.

I had a mechanical go at around 130k so they do last a while. Heres a ac delco "kit" for cheap ($77) but cant tell if its the whole pump or rebuild kit or not:
Amazon.com: ACDelco 252-701 Water Pump: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco 252-701 Water Pump: Automotive

Good luck

kinda off topic but is there a higher volume mechanical pump? Seems when driving at high speeds above 75(4.11's hurt I know) I run a little warmer then driving around town below 55. I just been accounting it for higher rpms = higher temp.

This is the PRP pump I was referring to: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRP-6080-LT1-Electric-Water-Pump-Camaro-Impala-SS-LT4-/231002824712?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c8d76008&vxp=mtr
Specs look similar to a CSR or Meziere, although I realize the flow rate isn't real world. I decided to stick with the mechanical pump since I found a used gear/shaft for $7 on ebay that is in decent shape. A new gear/shaft runs over $150 new, so that's why I was considering going ewp. My pump itself only as around 25k on it so I plan to reuse it for my build.

The mechanical moves more than enough, even the electrics are adequate at cruise. You have other issues like airdam folding over at speed or something.

EWP is not something I would cheap out on or be the Guinea pig on, unless you have a known good one in the car as a spare.

I didn't want to be a guinea pig either, which is why I asked if anyone knew anything about them. Based on the lack of responses, it doesn't sound like there is any data good or bad on them yet.

Probably just a reboxed known brand.
