Default Another lt1 misfire thread..please come inside

Car is a 1994 camaro z28 a4 165k .intake muffler delete.
Well its been giving me problems lately.it appears it has a misfire at low rpms .
No backfires.
It shut down on it once an after a few tries it started.i belive the sparkplugs and wires are bad.
At WOT it seemed to work fine well sometimes.
Could sparkplug wires cause that?
Any input is appriciated.

Check your wires to ensure they're not on the manifold/headers. The heat can melt through to the metal and cause arcing.

After 160K I wouldn't be surprised if your opti was finall letting go. Opti, wires, and plugs are never a bad idea if you have a saturday to burn down.

get a delphi model, i believe they are at a reasonable price on rock auto. I had a lower rpms misfire problem thought it was wires, changed them and it still wasn't fixed. Changed the opti and took the old one apart, turned out the rotor was arcing inside the cap causing the misfire.

Im going through close to the same issue I have half the miles you do though. no codes either I feel the same way , I did plugs and ended up buying a cheap set of wires just to roll it out and they are arching rite out of the box all over the place. So I ordered some Delphi wires Ill try them . How old are your wires , could be some with coil or icm , but cant figure it out but this seems like the same issue also you can drive the car and it doesn't seem to get worse so

Of the 3 optis ive had fail none made ianintermittent miss. They either made the engine quit then allow restart after cooldown or kill it dead. Cant tell how old your opti is.

Miss would be wires maybe plugs. What heat range plug are u using. Did u change the plugs lately? Any hi-po ignition mods?

But always check your codes first. U may have the answer waiting for u.

I had to change wires over 2 years ago and found a hole in 1 wire but the miss was hardly noticeable.
Do u have headers? Headers can burn up wires fast as u can replace them but i cant tell from your profile. I think i read its a 383 with exhaust mod?

Ignition stuff on these cars is not a place to cheap out. My wires are from MSD and I've been pleased with them. I use ngk plugs and a Delco opti. At 160,000 I'd definitely give it a good tune up.
