Default 90* elbow in water pump

Alright so my buddy with a 96' Formula... full bolt ons good tires yadda yadda ... anyways first time down the strip in that car he blew a 90* elbow out of the water pump. The hose that hooks to it comes from the bottom drivers side of the radiator. Is this fitting just pressed into the pump or how is it held in? Could we somehow tack weld it in a couple places to keep it together or should he just get a new pump?

The pipe is just pressed in. I've heard of this happening on reman pumps, but not new ones.

Mine did that. I ran a tap in and put a pipe nipple in it.

generous coating of loctite 640 and press it back in. make sure you give it the full cure time before refilling the cooling system.
