Thank you, hydraulic roller. 238/246 .608/.608 either a 110 or a 112 lsa Cam was given to me so I popped it in and got a mail order for it. Its been a long time coming and there is still more to get out of this setup, just can't decide if I want to max it out or what.

Like knowing what machine shop to use, what to specify them to do, and how to properly clean it to promote ring seal when you get it back. Hint: more than a car wash or a vat. Like cylinder wall prep, like which rings to order, how to fit the rings, (not just off the shelf box of rings) and how to measure and adjust the oil rings, what to lube the pistons. & rings with to insure sealing, what clearances to use and where. Which cam, and where and how to degree it in, etc, etc, etc.
What oil clearances to use, and no Plastigauge.
Which oil pump, also how & where to set the pressure. How to control oil drain back. Where do you want it?

Which rockers and valve springs to use, and how to set them up so they live. How to correctly measure push rod lengths, (int & ex are often different) and what you are looking for there. There is power & reliability there if you know where to look.

This is just scratching the surface.

Yes. Jiffylube is a great place to get your crank changed. They'll add 2 cylinders for the price of 1 too. Make it a v10 and get a 3/4 race cam and your good to go.

Probably not. LOL

Are the reasons three guys with the same stuff, one runs elevens, one runs tens and another runs nines.

I have had 383" LT1s on my dyno that would not make 300 rwhp with similar parts to a guy making well over 400.

All of it. Mostly poly and adjustable stuff. Short torque arm, spohn drag bar, pa k member, upper and lower lcas, strange singles set full loose on 275lb springs, and stock rear springs with summit 3 ways set to.....something

There seems to be a running joke in this thread, I'm not sure what it is about though lol.

I would call a HR-cammed 383 that runs like yours a pretty well sorted setup, not something slapped together with a cam that was "given" to you.

I'm curious as to what "maxing it out" would entail.

You know, you are right, I should have thrown the cam at him instead of giving it to him.

Next time.

What kind of RPM/shift points do you have and are you running stud mount rockers or shaft?

AI heads are the only way to go. Its a "385" and the cam was given to me, I said **** it and got a mail order tune for it. Its pretty conservative right now and I'm running those dreaded -16cc srp pistons sooooo I could gain a little bumping the scr, getting a converter specifically for my needs, dialing in shift points, and probably something other than the magnaflow catback with a cutout but I do like being tolerable in neighborhoods and highway cruising. The tires were given to me too and I think they are past their lifetime but again, **** it Anyways, thanks.

Thanks Dave. You helped get me here! As for weight, start unbolting things and put that damn trans back in a truck where it belongs!

Honestly I don't know them exactly, Dave probably does though. My tach gets buried but factory tach etc prob isn't too reliable and I think he said it starts shifting around 64-6500. Lunati/moroso linkbar lifters, some pushrods, ultra pro mags on 7/16th arp studs, and patriot golds set up by lloyd. Simple stuff.
