3.23 gears factory for LT1?
I've heard a lot of people talk about having 3.23 gears in their LT1 and some have said their car is stock. According to my research, the LT1s only had the option of 2.73s (RPO code GU2) and the 3.42s (RPO code GU6). The 3.23s had RPO code GU5. So were these 3.23s actually factory on some or was my research right?

93's are the oddballs.
M6 = 3.23 or 2.73 (depends on whether M28 or M29)
A4 = 3.23
AFAIK, no 93 Z28 A4 came with anything other than 3.23s.

When I purchsed my Z new in 95, it came with the station wagon 2.73 gear. The rear was making a noise so I took into the dealer for warranty work, they told me they would just order a new rear rather than taking my apart and checking it since it was under warranty, I had the glove box locked (Lucky) and they called me to ask if I knew by chance the GU code, I said yup, it said GU6, So I got a new rear with 3.42 gear for my auto.

not true some A4 had 2.73's the way you can tell is the shifter would only go down to 2 there was no #1 you could take the little clip out and get it to go in 1 gear the reason for this was noise polluntion law they didn't want you to hole first gear to 50 mph it was to loud so with the 3.23's you could only hold it to about 40.

Like I said, I wasn't sure, I've personally never seen a 2.73 A4 in a 93 Z28. I also have never personally seen a T-top 93, although I know they exist. From what I've read, 17,850 Z28s were made in 93, and 14,428 came with 3.23s. Also, the M6 cars came with either 2.73s or 3.23s. I don't know how many M6 cars were produced, but I'm curious as to how many A4 cars came with 2.73s, it can't be alot.

True. Only real difference between a 4L60 and a 700R4 is the Corvette servo and the 5 pin connector for lock up. 4L60E added the electronic valve body and the detent cable vs a t.v. cable.
