Pacesetter Headers
Hey what do you guys think of these headers? reason for asking I went to the local performance shop last week, to price a set of longtubes for my 94 Z28, anyway he goes on how he don't want to sell them to me because basically they are junk. I was looking at the headers on ebay, that somebody posted but I need the headers with the EGR, they don't have them on ebay. I was going to order a set from Summit.

Have 2 pairs, one coated by Pacesetter, holding up very well for 4 years with only a little rust. The other set was coated by Jet-Hot, probably the budget line of ceramic coating they offer (craigslist find NIB for $340.00 IIRC). Those are rusting a bit more but still sound great. Next pair, I'd probably grab a set of EBay stainless and work through the fitment issues.
Pacesetters (both pairs) went in pretty easily with the usual prerequisite disassembly required to do so on a stock accessory setup, with ABS, stock K-member, etc.

Pacesetters are junk as a commercial product. The welds weren't all that great, the passenger side sits dangerously close to the k-member, and the EGR hookup was too far down on the primary to be used without tearing holes in the flex pipe from being stretched. The only positive thing I can think about mine are that they went in without jacking up the motor and only the steering knuckle had to be removed.
If you're gonna buy cheap headers then just go with the OBX stainless set. I bought a set from a member on another forum and each header was a like work of art. I really wish I went with them from the beginning because I ended up ripping out all of the emissions in my car anyway.

I'm running Pacesetter longtubes to this day, have had them on the car for 2 years now. Before I did my 383 build, they had the emissions on them and were fine.Mine actually arent even coated, just painted with high temp paint and are fine, rarely need touched up,but then again my car only comes out on weekends.

Been running uncoated pacesetters for 6 years, 3 of those years parked outside in the north year round, the collectors are rusted, but no holes. Fit great with eurathane motor mounts. No complaints for the price. Just gonna sand and high temp paint them then wrap them this winter and be good to go.

Thank-you for the replies well appreciated I am going with the Pacesetter's longtubes for sure no doubt. I think the shop wanted to make some money off me, but I will be buying them from Summit.

I just brought a 97 Z28 with the coated pacesetters and the entire exhaust system is rusted out and in need of replacement. I just brought the ebay stainless steel longtubes with ory and I'm replacing the rest with stainless so I'll never have to do it again. Also in my state they don't do a visual inspection so I don't need emissions hookups, that would be my choice.

ive had pacesetter lt's for about 5 years. the un coated type. there holding up fine and i still have them on the car today. there rusted but they still get the job done. i suggest getting the race style NOT emission style. the EGR was a pita getting to clear the firewall. i had to bend the pipe. it sucked, i will never buy emission style again. that would be my only complaint.

I already have the EGR style bought they are on route now, I went with the longtubes painted, my car is only driven proably 3 times a week than it sits in the garage. The car don't see any rain unless I get caught in it. It is stored now until the winter is over sitting in a nice heated garage, I also have the y-pipe coming. I was looking at the kooks but to much money and shipping to eastern Canada, isn't cheap.

mine fit great, although do show some signs of rust and i ordered the ceramic coated. However when it comes to budget you can't go wrong at all, there not going to be kooks quality but then again, i paid 500 for longstube and y pipe, which is cheaper than just the long tubes for kooks, so you can't go wrong on that aspect.

Finally got my headers and y-pipe today I took a look at them they seem to look good to me for what I want they will suit me just fine. They sent me the O2 extensions also and the y-pipe couldn't ask for any thing better, only thing is now I have to wait til the spring to hear and feel the difference.

i would look into getting actual o2 extensions. Like ones you can connect together. Not just some wires you splice together. might run into problems doing that.
as soon as you Start the engine there gonna smoke like crazy. the paint burns off and it smells weird. just a heads up. lol
