Single or duals?
I have always had cars with a dual exhaust with X/H. This LT1 motor makes a little different sound than my last pushrod LS1 motor in my 04 GTO.
I'm currently running L/T's, no cats, Borla CB. It's OK, it can sound a little "truckish" at certain RPM/load though.
Anyone have a side by side comparison of a dual exhaust vs a single exhaust on their car?
For reference, I LOOOVE a LS1/2 with L/T's no cats, H or X and a Corsa Sport catback. It's sex to my ears at WOT with how it screams. Fell in love with Corsa after this video:
I came from Mustangs and people love flowmaster...on the OHC mod motors I HATE flowmaster. Plus the associated drone, poor flow and rusting out. But I stumbled across this video and really liked the sound. Then read the comments....yup, flowmaster muffler LOL
I am usually a Magnaflow nutswinger, but the Magnaflow CB's on the LT1 fbodies does nothing for me...

I won't run dumps on a DD because the drone will kill me.
wrd1972, that's some nice work! You described it better than my "truckish" analogy when you said the "machine gun sound". That's what bugs me the most about the Borla. I didn't know if it's due to the fact it's Borla or that it's a single pipe system.

Merging the two banks together turns that rasp from the uneven firing pulses on Gen1/Gen2's into more of a scream.
I noticed the same effect a long time ago changing from SLP shorty headers to Tri-Y's; it really smoothed the note out at mid and upper rpms.

My Borla due to the straight through muffler did this around 2-2.5K RPM and sounded like crap and that prompted me to go true duals.

Here is the system I built for the GTO with a Helmholtz resonator pipe.

Maybe it was the LS motor differences? I don't know.
I will return to 4" single once i find a high flow muffler thats not as loud as the spintech or magnaflow. So im looking for a muffler too but will return to single outlet. That 4" baloney sliced outlet is too cool.

Aaaaand that's when the machine gun sound comes in when you open the passenger side tail pipe...no bueno.
I'm now contemplating using a Dynomax VT muffler 3" Center In Center Out. I had them on a previous car and they are GREAT for killing cabin drone at cruising speeds and open up at WOT.

Yeah you can clearly hear the machine gun sound in the vid. That crap is 100% gone on my current exhaust system.
I'm sill liking the 30 series Flowmaster that comes in the Mufflex systems but I'm not sure how the drone will be inside the car.
wrd1972..where are you from? I'm in Walton, KY...20min south of Cincy.
LT1 bolt ons, edelbrock shorties 3" to a dinky little Flowcrapper 10 race muffler. Personally I don't like it all the much but there is no drone and the volume level is perfect.
From 2500-3500 it sounds nice and deep, from there the pitch changes and she screams like a banshee. What I hate is all the rasp on deceleration.
*If you have speakers with bass, watch it on that. Lots of bass that headphones/ laptop speakers can't pick up.
I have not heard or had a ride in a Flowmaster equipped Fbody.
