Default pro mag question

I couldnt for the life of my figure out why my valve train is so noisey. AFR 180s i installed 7/16 stud and pro mag 1.6s.

Ive found 1 broken rocker and im hoping there are not more. but ill be checking later tonight more than likely. Anyway my question is with the poly locks/nuts. Is the nut part supposed to sit down onto the flat part of the rocker? this would seem like a very thin walled nut but as i checked mine the nuts do not fit down into the base it just on the top. Almost betting this is my problem but im not sure. never ran polys before.

Now, even if this is the only one broke would you even run these anymore? IMO it seems like the nut is putting unwanted stress onto the rocker itself? I dont know im confused and upset. Just got my car back running and now rocker issues.

These were used rockers so before you go blasting me on wrong install maybe i did not inspect them enough and one was broken? i dont know but i have not installed them wrong. unless the flat part goes down anyway

Thanks guys

The flat part sits against the nut, its hard to tell how they are broken with the way you are describing it. pictures?

ya i figured nut sat in that flat part. but the round on nut is wider than the flat part. ill get picks but the part that broke is not the arm itself but the round part the arm rocks on. im not at home but will definitely get a pic in here soon

Looks like your poly locks are too large of a diameter. They should fit inside the machined area on the rocker. My Pro Mags came with locks of the correct diameter.

They can be rebuilt. Call Comp. Last I knew they have you send them in and they send you another rebuilt set. Tell them you need the adjusting nuts/locks for those rockers.
I have messed up and installed the trunnion upside down on several rockers. It did not result in any catastrophic failure, but did put some impressions on the adjusting nuts themselves. Live and learn.

ARP Perma-Locs 300-8245 should fit your Pro Mag's too, that's what I have on mine.

thanks for the input guys. Ya lesson learned the hard way. No idea why i wouldnt check, but its probably because i didnt think anything would be wrong. Even new in box ive seen the wrong parts. My mistake

Ill get ahold of comp. hopefully its not an arm and a leg just to rebuild them. id be happy if they said $100. have a feeling itll be closer to brand new ones just cause they want me to buy them ha.

$141.44 for a rebuild. Sound worth it or would you just foot the extra $160 for brand new ultra pro mags? which probably come with poly locks.

$141 is good for the rebuild.....but when you add the $74 for the right size Poly Loc http://www.summitracing.com/parts/arp-300-8245

your a $100 less than a new set of "Ultra" Pro Mags ($314) which come with the locks. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cc...make/chevrolet

At a mim your cost is $215 vs $314 for new Ultra Pros
