58mm Throttle body which is best???
OK, got into a debate with my friend this weekend and he thinks that the BBK 58mm TB is the best offered from the rest. I said he's high and that they all preform the same. It's just a TB.
Whats everyone's thoughts???

Most people will just keep the stock throttle body considering how good it is. You really need to be pushing some power to actually warrant the NEED of a 58mm. Most that need a bigger TB will just port out the stock one or go 52mm and it'll perform to 95% of everyones' needs. The other 5% are pushing enough that it warrants the need for a 58mm for them. I'm not saying your friend doesn't need one, but most likely 52mm or a ported stock one is enough. Tell him that with throttle bodies, bigger isn't always better - especially with these engines.
Did Summit make one? I have some off brand 58mm TB that I picked up cheap off here, I think it was Summit, works fine. A throttle body is a throttle body.
With the 24x conversion I had to notch the TPS in order to tilt it a bit before mounting it for the PCM to show 0% throttle. Other than that, no issues.....

Even though I really dont like most edelbrock products their TB's actually have the idle air control circuit blocked off/independent from the main throttle bores so the idle air control system works like factory and doesn't bleed air directly into the plenum causing split blms like most aftermarket TB's, if you have a big cam all you'll need to do is the drill mod.

You are right with those looking purdy! Wish I could run the Monoblade Throttle Body that they make, but I think 1250 cfm is a bit to much. That thing is slick!

My BBK/Edelbrock had the IAC circuit sealed but later ones are not as a fiend bought one more recently and it was open in a "V" shape between the bores and the IAC circuit.
Far as "best" define best? The Holley TPIS and AS&M are very pretty and expensive that makes them "best" by many people's standards. I know Holley was known to stick at one time they probably resolved that.
BBK used to whistle but I believe they solved that.

Had a BBK/Edel which seemed to work fine but had an odd whistle. For the more recent build, I switched to a Holley which I hated. The damn thing would stick and not return back to the closed position. I now have a AS&M and love it for a few reasons. It's pretty, works just fine and has the best pedal feel (its super smooth and well weighted). The revised TPIS unit with the correct IAC passageway sounds real nice.

1. Tpis
2.Holley Never had a sticking issue here
3. As&m mono blade if you have a big breathing motor
Bbk never liked them in my opinion there more of a Mustang company That builds some parts for lt1. Professional products is cheap crap that has tons of idle issues and butterfly sticking issues.

It seems like a lot of people have issues with Holley TB's for these cars (specifically idling problems). TPIS and AS&M seem to have extremely few negative reviews anywhere, besides price of course.
