Why would someone cut the guide down from the stock size to .500"? It only has single valve springs. Any clue why this was done? All the seals were just dangling on there because they were way too large for the guide. The outer step is .5" and the inner is like .560.
I had my LT1 stock guides cut down to .500" so that I could easily run any dual valve spring required. When I have installed dual springs on stock diameter guided heads, the clearance between the seal and the inner spring is around .020" or so which is very tight but not really an overbearing concern. Also there was no charge for this so why dot if it opens up many more valve spring options.
This also allows any LS1 dual spring combo as well if desired.
I think they are ported, not sure, got the car from someone else. Cannot be sure until i strip the engine apart. It only dyno'ed 233 hp and 270 lb ft tq., supposedly it has a small comp cam.
stems are 11/32", if they simply threw the wrong size seals on, im not very confident in their abilities or reasoning.

If i knew this, i would have done ls1 beehives, i already ordered the lt1 spring kit from alex parts. oh well.
Just to clarify, any LS1 dual spring combo. Obviously LS1 beehives will fit stock guides fine.
ok, well either way im going with the alex single spring with damper. not going to spin this thing much over 6k. its has comp 07-304-8 and im not going to be changing it anytime soon.
