Squealing noise from engine

This is not coming from front of engine, belts, accessories, etc. The sound sounds similar but seems to be coming from drivers side rear of engine. BTW, this is a new (<1year) forged 385, built by a local NHRA engine builder. Could this be bad lifter (LS7), rocker arm bearing (Harland Sharp 1.65), something else? Oil pressure is 80 cold, 45-50 hot idle, 5w40 Rotella Synthetic. It does not seem to "tick" at all, only squeal slightly and with RPM. Suggestions?

I just went through this. Discovered about four of the rollers on the lifters were trashed. Drain the oil and see what you can see. I'm pulling my motor now because there is hardened steel all throughout the motor.

I had a broken valvespring retainer which was causing a chirping noise, sounded like an alternator bearing gone bad.

Does it sound anything like this?

I have also heard, and it actually may be the owner of this car, claim it was nothing more than a bad exhaust/header gasket. It was replaced and the "squeak" went away.

I had a similar issue a couple of years ago in the vortec engine in my truck. It was more of a chirp than a squeal, sounded very much like an accessory pulley or belt. Turned out to be a flat-spotted roller on one of the #3 lifters. It was a very gradual failure and I never saw any shiny stuff in the two oil changes while it was going on.
No obvious damage to the cam lobe shining down on it with a bright light, so replaced the lifter with an old LT1 part and all has been well for about 50k miles.
