You never said how many miles were on it.

A stock LT1 is pretty stout. Just like everything it must be taken care of.

Guys run cams, heads, nitrous on it stock you name it for a long time.

I know a guy that makes 373rwhp on stock bottom end gotta be close to 100k miles now.

People shoot stock bottom ends with 200 of nitrous (better have a perfect tune).

They will handle 150 all day if it was maintained.

Someone probably revved the **** out of it. Stock rods bolts don't like revs.

It also doesn't look like it was maintained very well.

332 HP & 377 TQ with 108K miles on a stock heads, bottom end, A4 checking in here!

I've never seen a connecting rod come out that mangled. Makes me wonder if the car was going WOT and seen some nice 1,2,1 shifting action.

By A4 do you mean auto 4speed? That's not bad numbers I'd like that for just driving in town!

Yes A4 means automatic 4 speed.
M6 means manual 6 speed.

Over 400rwhp here on stock bottom with 110k miles. I know of several that have many more miles than I have at that power level.

Nice carnage. Looks like someone never changed that oil and beat the thing like a rented mule in every way possible.

Dang is that 400 through an auto? I'm starting to think I should just get a stock lt1 and put new gaskets and rings and drive it. Pretty sure oil was never changed. I've got a parts list for my ideal build but I have to find some reviews on quality of them

OP

given the looks of piston/rod...you need a new block. you could just get a LT1 from junkyard and rebuild it. plenty of LT1 cores around

Ellwin Racing Engines or Golen are two sources to get either a short or long block LT1 built with whatever parts you spec.

I bought a Golen 383 4 bolt main forged bottom end short block years ago. No issues so far.

So I'm not sure whether to treat it as the other two engines and do your typical ported stock heads with a valve job or just get aftermarket aluminum heads and cam I know either way I'll need a good tq converter that won't soak up much
power. I would like to have at least 400whp whether its forced induction or N/A. So if any of you lt1 guys know of good combos that can make this a fun street/track car I'm all ears! Here is a picture of it.

Check out my build thread (I think you did already). I laid down 414rwhp and 381rwtq. Sucks about the block. I just spent about $4500 for forged rods, forged pistons, machine work, injectors, heads, cam, SA RR, bearings, rings, freeze plugs, machine work, headers, ORY, and fuel pump.

You might be able to save the crank, I'd have it ground 10/10 and see if it's still good. If you are replacing it with a forged piece then a 383 sound like it's in your future....

I got my rebuild kit from Summit (LT1 specific .030" over kit with forged pistons) for $609. Then ordered Scat 35700P connecting rods (forged 4340) with ARP hardware for another $260.

You might get lucky. The local Pull A Part here has 1 in a Roadmaster. Another good place to look for just the block in Craigslist. You could get lucky and find a 4 bolt for $100 or so.

Are those the scat I beam replacement rods you have? Those caught my eye price wise and there 4340. They any good? So far I've pulled 4 running motors out of the you pull nd pay for less then 200, if I find one I might just put it in and build another on the side.
