Put LT1 up on jacks, now won't start
I borrowed my mechanic's fuel pressure guage, and I've got good fuel pressure at the rail. Measured around 44 lbs, which I'm told is sufficient to start this motor. So, back to the drawing board...
I pulled my intake elbow to inspect the Coil, and immediately, I see a bad ground wire, I replace a portion of the wire with adequate guage wire, and reconnect everything, and still, same symptoms... Engine turns over, but no start.
So, I've got gas, I've got air, I'm missing spark. How do I test for spark?
FWIW, my opti was swapped last summer, and has been working fine, I don't think it's the opti.
Last weekend knowing I had a spark issue, I decided I'd replace my MSD coil. It's about six years old, so I figured it couldn't hurt (and for $50, no biggie). So I replaced it, and still no start...
Since I don't have an OBD1 scanner, I gave up, and had the car towed to my mechanic. He got to it at the end of the day yesterday, scanned it and got Code 16 low pulse... Opti... UGH...
I've had several Opti's go out on me in the past, and typically the engine will misfire, stumble, puff smoke, etc... This time it's different. It was running PERFECTLY fine, then just died as if someone pulled the plug. So I'm hoping it's just that, one of the connectors has made its way loose. I guess I'll find out Monday.
