Default Spacers for valve covers?

My stock valve covers are about 1/4" too short for my roller rocker setup with AFR 210cc heads. It looks like my options are either Cantons or get a spacer and stick with the stockers. There's a company that sells a 3/8" spacer for SBC's and has holes for perimeter bolts. Has anyone used a spacer and do you use a gasket between the head and cover, or would just RTV or other sealer suffice? Also not sure whether the extra 3/8" would clear the alternator. Thoughts???

Can you share them? To clarify, I have an LT1/4 so it needs the notch for the alternator. I haven't found any other deep covers for F-body LT1 other than Canton.

What do you mean when you say your stock valve covers are 1/4" too short????

You do know that with the AFR 210's you need to trim the four (4) valve cover center bolts 3/16's of and inch, to use the stock valve covers, right???

Are your roller rockers physically hitting the underside of your valve covers???

If so ....... what length pushrods are you using???

Edit: Copied directly from the AFR web site:

SBC LT-1/LT-4 Cylinder Heads
◦Your factory accessory bolts and center bolt valve cover bolts need to be shortened 3/16" or they will bottom out.

The polylocks hit the covers. These heads were used and came with taller than standard valves, so I'm also running longer pushrods. Yes, I realize the issue with the center bolt standoff, but that's not the problem I'm having.

You can use tall center bolt valve covers from a sbc if you modify the rear of the alt housing.

The polylocks may be a tall style. If so, you can get shorter ones.
