Oil cooler delete

Oil cooler delete (Sorry if this has been covered but I have been unable to find a thread that answers my question.)
My 96 LT1 engine is being installed into a 62 C10 pickup. I wont be using the factory oil cooler and just need to know if I can just block off the pipe on the water pump or should I route a hose from it direct to the radiator? I don't have provision for this on the radiator I will be using, so just blocking the pipe at the water pump is easiest providing its not going to cause problems.
Any advice?

You can go one step further and eliminate that ugly adapter on the block by doing this:
