Default Hooker or magnaflow catback?

Which one is the best bang for that buck, I'm looking for something nice and loud but still dd reasonable with headers. I've heard that the magnaflow is pretty quiet which is pointless because I hate my quiet slowmaster. Hawks is running a deal on magnaflow for $400 which is why I ask.

It's still not "loud" now. LOL, not inside the car anyway. I like the low rumble at idle and how it "opens' up at full throttle.

Stock isn't louder, it's different. Stock has a lower smoother tone so it seems quieter.

My friend's car has Pacesetters, ORY, and a Hooker Aerochamber catback. I think it sounds like a pickup truck.

I had a similar bolt on setup except with the Magnaflow catback and the sound was so much better. A little quiet at idle but really roared at WOT. It got louder after the cam swap.

I have a magnaflow muffler on my Z and I do like the sound, though I have bone stock exhaust. I was planning on going with Hooker because I like the sound of that too, possibly more than a magnaflow. The only thing is since I'm gonna go 3" I'm not sure whether the magnaflow muffler I have is 3 or 2 1/2", I don't want to bottle neck.

Should be 3". I thought Magnaflow only made 1 muffler for the F-Body.

Magnaflow is stainless but the hooker has better tips.

As far as sound I've had both, liked them for different reasons. Magnaflow is louder but had a nicer tone. Honestly if for some reason something happened to my Hooker catback I'd probably swap it with a Magnaflow.

I run L/Y's catless and a 3" Hooker Max flow. VERY DD friendly and opens up nice at WOT.

Is there anywhere I can get an exhaust kit without the muffler? Doesn't really matter what brand, it just doesn't make sense to buy a whole kit since I have a muffler already, but I don't want to take it to an exhaust shop.

That's pretty much my opinion in both systems, I do love the hooker tips.
I think your the first person to say the magnaflow was louder too, every one else says it's quiet.

idk that's from my experience of having both, my friend has my old magnaflow catback and his car is louder than mine. Then again the magnaflow was quieter at first until it broke in.

I think I'll go with the hooker, it has the tips I like and it's a good bit cheaper. Stainless doesn't mean as much since I'll probably sell it in a few years to get a 6 speed.

I have the hooker now with lts and an ory. Its pretty tame just cruising around. Sounds great at WOT. I used to have a cheap flowmaster on it. I think the hooker sounds way better than the flowmaster ever did. I've never had magnaflow on my lt1 but it is on my 08 5.3 Silverado. Its pretty quiet.

Having a bunch of loud vehicles... I like a more quite exhaust and put cut-outs in to make it loud when you want it.
