Default Question about head room

I own a 1994 Z28. I have a power drivers side seat. Does anybody know if switching to a manual drivers side seat track will net me any head or leg room? Mostly concerned about head room. I'm 6'4 and about 400lbs, so it's normally a rather tight fit. Please let me know asap.... I'm going to the jy tomorrow to get one.

Look at the space between the seat and the floor. Not much going for added head room.

Not sure if the manual seats sit lower but I doubt it. If anything the electric ones are height adjustable while the manual is not IIRC. Have you tried reclining your seat more?

not 100% sure but i don't think the manual slides go any lower than the electric ones. only way i think you could get more space is with a set of custom brackets and a aluminum race type seat.

ps. put down the chicken leg and step away from the table.

You should try the manual one. It's lighter, it won't break, and if that doesn't do it for you I would trade the car for a 94,95,96 Impala lol

In my 97 formula, I swapped in fiero seat brackets and it dropped the seat ~1" versus the factory manual bracket. Never compared 4th gen power versus manual, but the power base was taller than 3rd gen manual base when i swapped 2000 TA lumbar power seats into a 92 Camaro.

Height wise in my experience. tall to short
4th gen TA power >or= 4th gen manual > 3rd gen manual > fiero manual

There's a head room issue in these cars? My mechanic is 6'8" with a 40"+ inseam and he fits just fine in his. If anything I would have thought there would be more leg problems.

Edit: I don't think there's really much of a difference because another friend has both ridden in and driven my car and he's about 6'5" if his posture didn't suck ***. I have power driver's seat and manual passenger. He had plenty of head room but slight issues with the leg room.

Mine is a t-top car, so that may be part of the issue. PLUS, I like to sit fairly upright, which in the Camaro is next to impossible.

Thats interesting about the Fiero seat tracks, they fit with no issues/modification?

I have enough leg room for sure in the car, but I'm close to the ceiling, and if I wear a helmet its VERY uncomfortable because I have to recline it a good ways to still fit.

I see what you mean now. I'm the dwarf of our group at 5'11" but with a long torso for my height. Even I have to have the seat all the way back and pretty much diagonal or my head will rub the roof. Yeah I don't see a tall guy like yourself wearing a helmet in one of these unless you wanted to pretty much lay down lol.

I'm 6'1" and have no head clearance issues, but it is a little hard getting that helmet on in the car....
