Default Help with strange tapping/ticking

Hello,

Just started up my car after I filled up with gas and my car started to make a strange tapping/ticking a lot louder than the usual valvetrain noise. The whole car along with the shifter shake and shake even more when put into gear. It does not sound like its coming from the top of the motor. It sounds as if its from the bottom or from the transmission.

It is a 1994 z28 M6 with longtube headers. Only recent thing I did to it was poly motor mounts last weekend to stop the headers from banging floor and that worked out.

Thank You!

Also hooked up the car for codes and other info.
It is showing a knock count between 2000-6000 but no knock retard. I'm assuming the ticking/tapping noise is causing since the sound is shaking my car as well
Would maybe an exhaust leak cause this? and if so can it happen this suddenly?

I was going to suggest that maybe you have an exhaust gasket that has developed a leak. I'd start by checking for a loose header bolt at the header flange.

Now it's time to fix that rancid oil leak.

I'm actually working on that right now haha. Dropped the transmission to replace the pilot bearing and will get the rear main seal along with it.

I think my intake manifold is leaking too which i'll end up fixing up as well

Check that clutch as well for oil contamination.
