Just got an email back from them. Totally clueless douche. sent the pic, and explained what was going on and got this reply.

Just a little confused here. Did you try firing the distributor? We've had very good luck with these and my concern is that these two units are not identical and if your only concern was positioning that you may be over-thinking it.

So I guess every opti is different, and position doesnt matter for some reason......

Obviously, they don't know anything about the products they sell. Another reason to avoid them.

They asked if I wanted to exchange for another lol. I told them I have a lot of labor wasted on this, and that I had to take the sensor out of theirs to use in my old one. Haven't heard back

I've had a GM Opti fail due to oil from leaking timing cover seals. I replaced the seals, cleaned out the opti with electro contact cleaner and 99% IPA, reassembled with RTV on every seal-able surface. That was 2 years ago, still running like a champ.

Update: they decided to apply the warranty to my Frankenstein setup. So if the sensor fails, they will warranty the whole thing even though I mix matched parts. I thought that was pretty decent of them.
