Default gen 1 vs gen 2

I am replacing a 267 sbc v8 with an lt1. There is a 2" in difference in the motor mount location on the blocks. from the bell housing mating surgace to the center line of the motor mount on the 267 is 16" and the LT1 is 14" I thought they would have been the same which is more common?

If you are going to leave off the AC compressor you can use gen 1 mounts on an LT1 block.

You can actually cut the corner out of the clamshell part of the gen 1 mount and slot the ac support bracket and run the ac with gen 1 mounts. this is how I did it in my S10 blazer conversion. worked out great, just makes R&R on the compressor a PITA.

get an A/C delete pulley, it will mount to the front only and free up the rear.

Any suggestions on a brand or particular one? I dont need an expenive fancy looking one just some works well on the lower priced side but not something so cheap it has to be replaced every 3 months.

Dont have any personal experience with them, I keep the A/C working in all my rides. If you want pics on how to mod the mounts to work with the A/C, I can provide those.

The AC delete pulleys aren't some speed parts, just a parts store piece designed to let folks keep driving a car if the ac compressor fails and wont serve as good belt routing anymore.

Yup, I got mine at Oreilly Auto for $35 when I got tired of messing with my AC that kept breaking the Clutches.
