Default 96 lt1 crank hub

When I bought my car I noticed it had a very slight wobble on the harmonic balancer. I put a new balancer on and it was the same. I ordered a new crank hub. The auto parts store got it in but it's different than the one I had on there. The one they gave me is round and the one I had was 3 fingered where the bolts thread to the harmonic. The bolt holes match up and the micrometer says it's the same but the new one is keyed. I also have to pull out a roll pin dowel on the new one. Should I install it without a key and just press it in or reorder one that looks exactly like the one I have? Thanks for reading.

As long as everything matches up as far a depth it's going in the cover and actual crank size I don't see it causing any issue, my aftermarket hub is round and so far good.

Good luck.

I installed a powerbond hub for my '96 build and it is also round and keyed like yours. I decided to use a key just to make sure it doesn't spin on me. Should work fine for you either way.

Using the key isn't totally necessary with normal accessories but if it makes you feel better...

Thank you. It worked without a key. I'm going to look up what size key works. Thanks for responding.

It's the same size as any other small block Chevy and ace hardware has a assortment of the keys in Stock in the nut and bolt section.
