Default Low coolant light sensor

My low coolant light is on. This is an idiot light and it seems that the sensor closes. If the sensor is removed does the light come on or go off? It should also have a proper ground on one side as well, correct? I pulled and reinstalled the engine and wonder if it's possible I didn't ground something properly.

BTW: Unplugging it doesn't seem to turn the light off...

I found that the sensor is normally open so unplugging it SHOULD turn the light off. I must have a wiring issue somewhere else, not what I was hoping to find. Luckily it's just a dummy light and should be easy to repair. I do hate tracing electrical problems.

Unplugging it has always turned the light off for me.

You may have pinched the wire somewhere.

Yes, I thought of that (pinched wire) - but I have no way of knowing where and that is a problem Houston. I don’t want to disable the light as I do consider it pretty useful. That’s going to be a last resort. First I’ll try to trace it and hope it’s not something under the dash. Since I’ve removed and replaced the engine recently it should be in the engine compartment. Wish me luck.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
