No it will not, perhaps if you ran with no headers or exhaust manifolds at all on the heads that is possible.

Umm my cousin who is like 40 said he used to have an old coupe with iron heads and undid the headers one day to go raise hell. He said it was kinda chilly out and ended up either cracking his heads or warping the valves. I can't remember how the story went..... He said it was because when he shut the engine off, he sucked all that cold air up into the engine. True or not, most guys aren't going to have their headers open when it's cold out anyway I don't think.

For sure. Be aware though, that you won't get much gain from it- not nearly as much as you would get from a pre-cat cutout.

the only way you could possibly burn a valve with a cutout is if you put it right on the header primaries and the car was running lean as hell. With the Fuel Injection of today, thecomputer adjust the fuel ratio for hte car therefore never really allowing it to run lean enough to burn up a valve. This was a major concern for carb'd cars because they had to adjust the a/f maually everytime they did a modification to the car. But like i said, a cutout will not burn up a valve on your LT1 beacuse the computer adjust the a/f ratio to balance it out. THe reason the valves broke was temperature variations. you have hot as hell on one side of the vlalve, but the other side wasnt near as hot beacuse there werent headers on it,thus allowing the air to escape freely. as the hot air from the combustion chamber side of the valve crossed the external part of the valve(cold part) once it opened, it cracked.
