Default Convert to vented Opti?

If I am going to do the cam swap and have the engine out of the car would it be worth my time to convert to a vented Optispark? I need to get a new one anyways.

IIRC, you can get an MSD vented cap w/ rotor for a non vented spline drive Opti. That way you don't have to change timing covers. Although since you're in it already, it's not hard to change. Just remember to make sure the dowel pin on the cam is at the length needed for whatever opti you use, it's different between vented and non vented. Also make sure you have the correct vaccuum lines with check valves installed for the vented version.

I just looked into it. It has really good reviews everywhere I look. That seems like a better route to take.

With a spline drive opti you're stuck with the OEM timing gear set, which isn't necessarily bad. With a pin drive opti and EWP you can use any timing set you want.
