Default How many miles on your H/C setups without issues?

I only have about 60,000 miles on my short block, 20,000 miles on my heads and about 10,000 miles on my current cam and lifters.. I would like to drive my car more but the fear of lifters and valve springs giving out is holding me back.. How many miles are you guys putting on your cars with aggressive setups with out issues.. I'm in need of a little motivation here lol

Test the springs, they are the prime concern. If they test good maybe decide to test again at 15k if still OK I might change at 20k. Maybe you decide to change them and can use the testing as a guide on buying the same or some upgrade.

Around 3000 miles now. Not a daily driver, I'll probably test the springs next oil change.

LE pretty much told me the same thing when he spec'd out my new cam. He said anything with over .600 lift would wear out the springs anywhere around 3-5k miles. I decided to stay under .600 and he said they should last 10-15k. This all depends on the springs you have and the cam specs.

Use quality components and the rest depends on you and your habits. If you race it more than you drive it, it's of course, going to need more attention.

Nowthen, I had the hotcam in my Impala, which is not a very aggressive cam, but I did use nitrous on the car. I had over 70k on the head/cam setup(from 1998-2009) and no issues until the nitrous blew a head gasket. This car probably seen the track 10 times all year but also had it's fair share of street racing as well.
Also, I did not use the springs in the kit. Brian Tooley has done my heads way back when.

about 30k mi on 918's with a .570 int-.565 exh XFI cam

no valve float or issues...but suspect they are at their end of life use

considering the Comp "conical" spring

I have 30K+ on my head cam car we did several years ago. Like I have mentioned before we have true street car packages meant to be driven.
Depending on what components you have chosen and what kind of power you are supporting will determine their cycle life modified. If it's GM lifters and rockers 40-50K is time to replace. As far as the springs go... If it's a good quality piece like ours I would check them and they would most likely go right back in. Maybe a small shim...again mileage and usage dependent.

I got 70K out of my LPE 211/219 cam before the lobes started to show wear.

Wow.. Well it's a weekend warrior when it's out but its mainly a garage queen.. I try and take it easy most of the time but when you know all that power is on tap it's kinda hard sometimes lol..
