96 LT1 to 4l80e
I've got a 96 LT1 with a T56. The trans is shot though, and most local rebuilders want a lot of money to get it back up to par. Buddy has a 4l80e though, and wants next to nothing for it (Because he collected five of them)
I know some BFH is required to the body to make it fit, custom converter, trans line extensions, etc. My issue is with the PCM. I can't find anyone that has gotten the 96 PCM to control the 4l80e and those who have, never explained how. Does anyone know the best method here? I'm also considering just finding a 4l60e because it should swap in a lot easier, even with the 96 PCM.
I'm open to any input and ideas, and hoping to make some progress. It's -25 degrees outside, so I'm stuck inside - the shop won't get warm enough, figured I'd try to hammer out all the details before I go at it.
Would swapping that in, or is there a way to get that PCM to run the 4l80e? I recall reading the wire harness is interchangeable between the 1995 and 1996, that correct?

I'm still looking for a moderately priced controller as well, just in case. Trying to cover all bases here.

Looks like I'll be sticking with the 95 PCM, since it can be tuned to run the lower RPM idle for the cam as well, and tuned to run the 4l80e trans, if all goes well it'll save me quite a lot of money in SA controllers.
I do have one remaining question though, for everyone.
I've heard rumors you'll need a new driveshaft, because the stock one will be the incorrect length? I know the yoke has to be replaced, but can anyone confirm whether or not you'll need a longer drive shaft?
I had contacted Jake's Performance, but not getting much of a response, unfortunately - they seem to have what I need.
