how to fix that? what would cause the steering wheel in a car to be like N (or nutral) in a transmission at the middle of the turn of the steering wheel and the other part of the turn is like in D (drive)

I need help!

Uh.....I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to convey here; I assume there's some issue with your power steering system? Not sure what the transmission has to do with it. Does it have steering fluid filled to the proper level? Maybe the power steering pump is on it's way out? Is it making "whining" noises? Power steering pumps do go bad....I had to replace the one in my LS1 car last year.

I think it is not the steering pump, I think it is the steering gears the rack and pinion are getting worn. they need to be replaced or to ground to fix them. I did take the impala to the lathe shop the car is ready now. I will drive it tomorrow, I will let you know the result.
