Pulled plugs don't look right???? Please help

 

All same plug black on one side white on other

 

Please anyone that can help I need it and motor misses a little when u stomp gas it idles OK

 

Probably help if I told u what they came out of a fresh rebuilt 94 383 lt1 z28 Afr heads comp 306 cam done changed optispark??? And wires

 

Not that it is going to solve your problem bug you are using the wrong plugs. aFR and other aftermarket heads require a .75 reach gasketed plug and not a tapered plug as you have now.

 

I wouldn't use a platinum or iridium plug in an application like this either, they are for near stock.

 

I agree. I have a ez-go golf cart that when I pull the plugs they look like this. I've never had any problems with it though. IIRC AFR recommends the Delco 41-629 plugs for AFR195 heads... Plugs that are interchangeable with the delco plug are, autolite 3923, and accel 0416S, however the accel version from what I've heard is a horrible plug.

What plugs do you guys use then? Been using the iridium plugs on my full bolt-on car. Bump for the op, looks like the plug need more clearance.

 

How much compression does it have?

 

It's called splash fouling and I've seen it before on a vortec 350. Not sure how the hell it would happen on a fresh rebuild, unless some carbon was left in there.

 

Running 11.1 compression how do u stop splash fouling????

Splash fouling usually occurs on an extremely dirty engine. Carbon deposits come off from the piston and splash up on the plug. That's why I said it's odd to happen on a fresh engine, unless the pistons and combustion chamber weren't cleaned properly.

 

U don't think it could be valve seal leaking??? I thought of that but then again if that was it wouldn't the hole plug be black??? I rebuilt bottom end and had heads pressure tested and milled use same valves they still good maybe heads had carbon on valves ????I cleaned heads best I could ????but block was washed hottank and pistons was spotless ??? May be some old gunk left in Afr heads
