Wow, congrats on the awesome times both ET and a great 60ft. That car is going to dip deep into the 9's in the fall. I wonder how long that 4L60 is going to last with that much power. Would you stick the 60E or go with a th350/400 if you start having trans breakage?

Thanks guys!

I am running Sunoco 112 or VP C12 at the moment depending on which track Im at.

The 60e has been working well with no sign of slippage. If its a matter of freshening it after each season I can deal with that. If it starts to really become a reliability issue I will go with a TH350..

Very impressive! I would guess your car gets a lot of attention at the strip running an N/A LT motor.

Thanks!

Without the hood it gets some looks.. When it was a street strip car it was mistaken often for a LS swapped car without popping the hood. It ran 10.8 - 10.9's in the summer.

Can it run on pump gas or do you have to run the 112 with the 13.2:1? Thats still very impressive for a little 383 street car in the heat of summer!

Thanks!

No more street driving with the new motor.. 112 is a little conservative, I could probably get away with 110 or maybe 105. I would like to play with fuel a bit on the engine dyno eventually.

With the little bit of timing a well-built LT1 requires for best power, you'd be fine with a 50/50 mix of pump fuel and 105 or 110. Or straight 100 would be good too.

That's interesting Bowtienut.. I will have to try some MS109, I planned to play with some Vp113 also.

Nostang - I've got 36 degrees in it with a cold plug and small dome. That's where it was on the engine dyno, when I move to a hotter plug I will back it off a couple degrees and move back up slow to see if it picks up. I'd like to get it real consistent before making any big changes to the tune so I can see clearly how it reacts to the changes.

yikes..domed pistons.......OK, I'd like to retract my statements about octane requirements. I was assuming flattops, since that CR is easily attainable with flattop pistons. You're outside of my experience base on tuning.
What ignition are you running? Is that 36 degrees true? The reason I'm asking is because with LT1 PCM, true timing is about 5-6 deg more than the timing table entries. Ie. my car runs 29 total in the table, which is actually 34-35 degrees.

Yea just a little dome +6 cc. I wanted more compression/more dome but was advised against it by my machinist for efficiency reasons. Basically he said it would be a wash in gains because of flame travel across the piston being inhibited by a larger dome. The head cc is 59 with .040 gaskets and 0 deck.

The timing is true, checked with a timing light.. running Holley EFI engine controller with a 58x crank trigger and 1x cam sync.

OK, 36 degrees true for best power indicates the dome isn't impeding the flame front much at all.
So, I still think 100 octane is all you need then.

Knew you'd be in the 9's. Great short time. Can't wait to see you push it much further.

Bowtienut - I will definitely give the lower octane a try next time it's on the engine dyno. My machinist wants to get setup to run fuel injection on his dyno, I may see if he wants to do it over the winter. I wouldnt feel comfortable dropping the octane that much without a controlled environment. There is some other stuff I'd like to try also, that would be easy to test on the dyno.

Sweetbmx - thanks man! Atco is your home track right? I may be up there in the Fall. Would like to hit a fast track this year and see what it can do.

What about giving E85 a shot if there are pumps near you? A lot cheaper than race gas. Sadly no pumps here in VA.
