I just ordered a coil/ICM setup off eBay. If that's not it... well, I'm going to lose a summery weekend with the opti.

That is the magnet for the coil which is a part of it. You only need the hardware bolted to it.

Before your foes attack, coils don't have magnets. The black part is the laminated coil frame that holds the primary and secondary windings.

Right. It is not a permanent earth magnet, but is everything an electromagnet is (could be used as one). But, instead of being used as an electromagnet, it is used as a transformer.

I tried to get the car to my garage last night but had to tow it there. It's hard to start, and when it does start, it usually dies within seconds. I made it about ten feet down the street before it died.

I'll keep hoping it's the coil or ICM. I have one of those MSD coils and the original ICM. I'm going with an LTCC setup if it's the opti. I'm getting sick of replacing them.

Man that sucks. The opti, if the problem, probably isn't bad. Just needs maintenance.

As I was changing the ignition coil, I noticed one of the connectors on the front of the coil was basically not even connected. I connected it and it started right up. It sounded smooth and strong.

This may not be related to the high RPM misfire I originally had. It might have to do with the stalling issue. I'm going to take it for a drive tonight to see how it behaves. In a perfect world, the car will scream down the highway, we'll see.

I sense sarcasm.

I am so close to having the car running perfectly!

I took the car for a run around the block tonight. There is no more stalling or high RPM stuttering.

I believe the stalling was caused by a loose connection to the coil, and the clogged fuel filter caused the high RPM stutter

Here's what it sounds like now.

Notice the hesitation when I punch it at idle? I made a post a few years ago about this issue, and I never did get around to checking for vacuum leaks. I'll check for vacuum leaks. I don't think the emissions delete was done correctly when I put headers on it years ago.

Glad you got it fixed and it wasn't the opti.
