Coolant and head/block delta, then coolant and radiator delta.

Would be interesting to snag three phase off the alternator and see what kind of load you can pull.

Alternator is rated at what 135amp, easily convertible to hp.

Not really easy to convert. Yes you can compute the electrical HP rating which is roughly 2.5hp but that doesn't account for the efficiency of the electrical system, bearing friction, weight, 135A @ what rpm, and a ton of other factors.
Regardless it takes much more power to turn an alternator under heavy load than most people think.

Point being 135amp output aint going to turn out the 11hp the mechanical pump consumes according to an SAE article that was available years ago.

Down and dirty eval, a 200amp alt would potentially give you 4.5hp AC wise assuming a pure resistive load and 80% efficient motor.

In the end of the day, the arguement is not whether a EWP will flow what the MWP does, its whether the LT1 needs the flow rate from a MWP.

End of day, EWP works for you or it doesn't.

OP here,

NASCAR has decided I cannot use an electric water pump.

The rules simply state " cooling system can be modified".

I guess they meant I could change the color of the paint or something.

Bottom line, I'm going to have to use the shaft driven stock water pump.

I bought a rebuilt pump and drilled and tapped 2 holes in the impeller so I could use a steering wheel puller to remove it without disturbing the bearing and seal etc.

My intention is to remove about a third of each impeller blade, the end with the most pitch and see how it works. Not sure how I could determine the existence of cavitation.

With the required flat tappet cam, Idling is minimized so the pump won't need to circulate much at idle.

I'll wait till the season starts in March and see if I can bug them into letting me try the electric but I'm not holding my breath.

Huh? If it says it can be modified, it can. Did they say why? That sucks man.
