Default Vacuum line from canister under coolant overflow bottle

As I backed the car in the garage I saw a vacuum line dragging the floor and followed it up to a canister under the coolant overflow bottle. It was the only line going in or out, and I can't remember what this is. I pulled the hose off and didn't take off the canister, what is it?

Unless you need it for your dash vacuum controls or leave it dangling open as a vacuum leak.
